Cooking at home can help you maximize a budget by far. I believe eating out is truly what causes my budget to decrease exponentially. What is the reason for me eating out? The asthetic, the taste - eating is really a mood. Not to say that you shouldn't eat out - you should - but limiting it to a once a month or to a special occasion will make the moment even more special. Here are some items that helps me execute tasty, and eye please meals at home.
1. A High Powered Blender
Fatimat - why would you spend mad money on a stupid blender? WELLLL SHERYL! LET ME TELL YOU. A high powered blender will give you a puree, a sauce, a dough, nut milk, nut butter, and ice-cream all in one AND its can clean itself. Need I say more? Fine. When growing up - a blender was a staple household item, and was used once to two times a week (aka weekends) to make soups and stews. One thing that we have started drinking more has been smoothies and juices and we quickly realized that our $60 Oster just couldn't handle it. So we limited our chunky smoothies to a minimum. Thats now different with the purchase of a Vitamix - I first got it for my apartment. My mom was so impressed by it that she dropped not so subtle hints of wanting one for her birthday.
Top 3: Vitamix, BledTech, NinjaBullet
2. InstaPot
When I first saw this at my local Target - I was immediately pressed to connect my no service phone to their wifi so I can google this phenomenon. My my - a pot that you plug in that can make perfectly steamed rice, vegetables, pressure cooked beans, and soups, ANDD act like a hot pot. One appliance for all of that. I was sold on the spot...well after I read some reviews off of Amazon.
3. Cast Iron Skillet
Another item with multiple purposes - are you guys seeing a theme here? The longevity of skillet is amazing and I've convinced quite a few people to get this pot. This pot not only acts as a frying pan, but is great for sautéing stir fry and even better at retaining moisture and locking in flavors within a high temperature oven. No fear here. Clean us is even easier with age. Well seasoned skillets will make your food taste better but also make clean up a breeze. A 14 inch skillet covers all bases.
4. Mise en place
No...I didn't add this in because I mayyy be going to Paris soon. This item actually really brings the experience of making every dish special. Prepping allows you to put more thought into your food - and you truly do feel like a chef when making your meals. 4-12 piece sets are great for prepping and even bette for serving.
5. Beautiful Flatware and Plates
Scratch what I said above - but fancy flatware and table settings actually does make every dish special. We all eat with our eyes - so we have to make those leftovers feel like its fresh out the oven. I recommend going to shops like Anthropology, West Elm, Urban Outfitters, and Ikea (Not Affiliate) to source some beautiful items to help make eating an even grander experience. Pinky's up!
What are some of your must have kitchen essentials to make your kitchen worth being in to make a delicious dish?
